In some parts of the country, farmers who try out conservation practices run the risk of getting pegged as hippie farmers. But then there are some clusters of farming communities, like Washington County, Iowa, where Field Work podcast co-host Mitchell Hora hails from. Conservation is all the rage there, and they’re not exactly granola-y, hippie types. What gives? How did the culture there turn out so different from where fellow host Zach Johnson farms in Minnesota?
